9. SCHOOL NEWS On June 9th, Grades 6 to 8 at Russell Public School invited their parents to see a display about the history of Russell. Each class had its own, special type of display. Grade 6-7, under the guidance of Mrs. Kiskis, had a farm, short biographies on important people, woodworking, crocheting by the girls, a fire department, and old school registers mounted on the wall. Mrs. Loucks' Grade 7 class each made a family tree for each pupil. Mr. Warner's Grade 8 class had the biggest variety of separate displays. There was a farm, fire department, woodworking, crocheting. Also Grade 6-7 and 7 each had a bake sale. All the food was donated by the children. Proceeds will be used to help build the new arena. Dennis Bakker MOOSONEE TRIP The Russell Public School grade eight's enjoyed their trip to Moosonee. The journey started at 8 a.m. on June 17th on a bus to Cochrane. We were accompanied by Mrs. Loucks, Mrs. Hay, Mrs. R. Hay, Mr. Warner and Mr. Loucks. The next morning we caught the Polar Bear Express to Moosonee. When we arrived at Moosonee we broke up into groups to explore the village. The museums and craft stores kept everyone busy taking pictures. One little Indian boy always managed to sneak into them. A certain redhead in our class received the name of "Fire Head" from an Indian because of her beautiful red hair. After the tour was over we boarded canoes to see Moose Factory. It was really neat. Huge pipes of hot water surrounded the village, for this was their only means of heat. » Although we were tired when we reached home, we felt the trip was rewarding and fun, so if you get the chance to go to Moosonee you should take it. We also would like to show our gratitude to our retiring teacher Mrs. Loucks for all which she has done for us in the past years. From the Grade Eight Class SUCCESS He has achieved success, who has Lived Long, Laughed often, and Loved much; | who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the Love of Little chikdren, who has heft- the workd a better pkace than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem on a rescued soul, who has never Lacked appreciation of earth's beauties on failed to express At, whose Life is an inspiration, whose very memory a benediction. * eR Ke KF Warner's Funeral Bome 445-2830
