Se Snore naa SSeS Se, en ee __L--------<---- Oe 6. RUSSELL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY The 56th Anniversary Dinner of the Russell Horticultural Society was held on May 12th. Among the dinner guests were Mr. F. G. Millette, Agricultural Representative for Russell County, and Mrs. Millette; Mr. Albert Belanger, M.P.P. and Mrs. Belanger; Mr. Arthur Buckley of Ottawa; Anastace Esmond-White from C.J.0.H.; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon W. Thom of Morrisburg. In addition to these were representatives from nearby Horticultural Societies including Maxville, Vankleek Hill and Morrisburg. Included were Mrs. Marjorie Ward, J.P. from the Cumberland Area; Mr. Griffin of Morrisburg; Miss Eileen Griffin and Miss Gladys Bayne, also of Morrisburg and Mr.Gordon Winter of Maxville. Awards were given by Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Pelot; Mr. and Mrs. Rejean Paquette, Mr. and Mrs. Garry Patterson; and Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Kinkaid. Ground beautifician awards were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sherwood; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Cherry and Mrs. R. W. Atkinson. Entertainment was provided by a male choir, a trio, special instrumentals and a Scottish dance. Mr. Arthur Buckley showed slides and gave a talk on gardening month-by-month. The Horticultural Beauty Contest was a highlight of the evening. Kim Eadie was selected Queen and Suzanne Millaire was Princess. Runners-up were Nancy Mulders and Tena Weatherall. Mr. Thom, District President, spoke briefly and Mr. Millette distributed pamphlets on gardening. The president, Mrs. Cuthbert Smith, presided. THE RUSSELL CURLING CLUB FASHION SHOW On Friday evening, May 9th, the Ladies of the Russell Curling Club staged a very successful fashion show.
