Newest service ~- talking books for the blind. 4-H NEWS The 4H Homemaking Club Achievement Day was held at Riverview Public School, Cumberland, on Saturday, May 3rd. Thirty-two girls from Russell, North Russell and area, completed the Spring Project "Clothes for Leisure". Many types of beautiful leisure wear were made by the girls ranging from caftans, housecoats, pyjamas and nightgowns, to shorts, halters, Slacks, bib overalls, long skirts, blouses, leisure type shirts and short skirts with ¢o-ordinating tops, all made from many types of fabrics. Cathy McNeil, Brenda Prevost, Sandra McNeil and Susan Young of Russell Club No. 1, under the leadership of Mrs. Baird McNeil and Miss Ina Bols, presented an exhibit entitled "Trims with Imagination". Beyerley Cherry, Brenda Boothe, Linda Weatherall and Janet Graham of Russell Club No. 2, under'the leadership of Mrs. R. W. Joan Hamilton, Donna Dugdale, Nancy Flay, Lynn Otto and Mrs. shirléy Vedder of North Russel 1 Club No. 1, under the leadership of Mrs. Wilmer Hamilton and Miss Joan Hamilton, presented an exhibit "Trims with Imagination". Kathy Walsh, Anna'Baas, Catharina Baas, Mary Boland, Wilma Bakker, 'Karen Butler, Judy Griffith, Nancy Mulders, Carole Paquette, Pamela Smit and Mary Ann Walsh of North Russell No. 2; under the leadership of Mrs..W: E. Burton and Miss Kathy Walsh, presented a skit by all members entitled "Sleep and Lounge in Comfort". Highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of "Advanced Honours" to Mrs. Shirley -- Vedder for the completion of 18 projects. She received a certificate of honour and a ster_._ silver server. This is the third daughter of Mrs. Wilmer Hamilton to' have received such an honour. County honours were presented to Marlene Shirley for the completion of six projects. She 'received a certificate of honour and a sterling silver pin. Each girl receives a sterling silver = teaspoon for having completed each project. The Fall project will be "Let's Bake Bread". g
