3. MRS. GARLAND HALL HONORED Twenty-five years of Post Office service, eighteen of them as Postmistress, were honored on Thursday, May 15th. Carrie Hall, the lady who keeps that mail all figured out, coming and going, received a certificate and two pins for long service. Actually, Mrs. Hall has been behind the Post Office Counter since 1947, at first helping John Forsythe, then Ken Miller, and finally, in 1957, becoming Postmistress. Roast beef was the order of the day, served with mashed potatoes.and yellow beans. Due to the healthy portions served by the capable "girls" of the Ladies' Auxiliary, many hungry feasters declined a generous slice of pie. However, a calculated guess would be that obody, but nobody, left their table hungry and the $2.50 gambled on the meal ~as a safe investment when it included the dance that followed. Music was supplied by a local minstrel, Hector Deguire and his Golden Boys. Always in keeping with good times the group kept feet stomping and people jumping right up to the moment of the major drawing which was another highlight of the even- ing. Thirteen lucky people won a total of $600.00 with the first prize of $300. going to Paul Lauzon of Cornwall and second prize of $150 going to Gayle
