The "onky weekly paper in Russell County", it ceased publication in 1942. For nearly thirty-three years, we haven't had our own paper, but now, at Last, we have! Meet the Russell Review! Some things have changed in thirty-three years (McArthur-Warner General Merchants advertised seven pounds of gLour at 23¢ and Ladies' dresses for $1.00), but some things don't really seem all that different. The Picadifly Theatre offered "My Favorite Blonde" starring Bob Hope and "The Spoilers" with Marlene Dietrich and John Wayne. Dr. C. E, L. Morrow advertised office hours from 2 to 5 p.m. while George MclLraith (yes, the George MceIQraith) advertised his Law office in Ottawa. Something else has held constant, too, and that 4s the spirit of the community. There may be new houses, new names and new faces, but the sense of involvement, co-operation and activity is the same as ever, and that is why a Local paper simply had to come. back. The Review stats expected community support, but the overawhelming response has shown us clearly that the Review is an idea whose time has come. PubLishing will oceur on the Second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Your deadlines for bulletins, news, articles on advertising would be the first and thind Thursday of each month. The numbers to call fon submissions are: Mrs. Catherine Pekot 445-2889 and Mrs. Joyce O'Reilly 445-2008. We will handle all Community Bulletin Board items sree, and will accept personal advertising at 5¢ per word. Watch in future editions for a History of Russell, Library notes, chub columns, Recipe of the Month, a Wildlife column, Sentor Citizens! notes, and maybe, (with any sont of Luck), the occasional Letter to the editor. | Last, but not Least: While cinculation is free to residents, many "ex" residents would enjoy receiving the Review. Let us know who they are, and we'll do our darnedest. As I Said, some things never change.
