The meeting opened with the In stitute Ode followed by the Lords Prayer. Members answered the Roll Call by naming their favorite Christmas Crold. Routine business was transacted. A sum of money was voted to be sent to the fund for Crippled 'Children. JArrangements are under way for a tea to he held at the home of Mrs. C. F. MacRae during the Christmas holiday sea- son. : The location and type of course to be given in Prescott - and Russeil Counties for Youth Training for Ru- ral Young Women will be decided at a meeting of the Advisory Commit- tee to be held in Plantagenet on Dec. 13th. ' The spirit of Christmas was truiy in the air, for Mrs. Arthur Shelp who gave a most interesting paper on "Christmas Decorations" had adorned the home with evergreens, red berries and candles in a lovely festive manner. Mrs. Leonard Mac- Ewen gave a number of practical demonstrations of new suggestions for Christmas menus, after which refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. R. Phair and Mrs. C. F. MacRae. Russell United Church The Young Peoples Union of the United Church at Russell held their annual meeting on Monday. The meeting was opened by a sing-song conducted by Miss Eloise Gaukrod- ger. The president Miss Georgina Cherry then conducted the business period. The worship service was in charge of the missionary convener Mrs. M. Walker. After the worship period an interesting talk on the Caradian home missions by Rev: Bur:, Metcalfe, was given. Follow- ing Rev. Bunt's address the recre- ation period was conducted by Mus. E. ¥enne. The entire hall space is to be used as a show-room for new and used cars. * Well Winter came to Main strect in a big way and McArthur Motors have all of their big G.M.C. trucks in service, plowing the roads. We understand that from Kemptville west there has been a much heavier fall of snow than in this district. - = = We wish to thank those "Old Home Town" people who are fa: away and who have written in such nice letters about The Leader and ow much they enjoy it and that they look forward to receiving it each week. We cannot thank each one personally but we can thank them through their Home Town paper and we promise continue to try to give them a paper that will meet with their approval. Mr. George Duncan had the mis~ fortune to inflict a nasty cut in his left foot while engaged in chopping wood. To date he is progressing nicely and will be around in the course of a week or so.
