Beginn- ing Jan. 30 the Embrun Carnival features all of the usual carnival thrown in, where all kinds of ex- citing things take place beginning Jan. 23. Saturday's full day of activities begins with a bacon and eggs can- teen breakfast and continues through to the Carnival Roast Beef Dinner which preceeds the adult sock hop with The Tiffany Trio playing music from the 50s and 60s. Sunday's events begin with a pancake breakfast and the fun continues through the parade and bed races to a giant bonfire which will end the 1981 carnival. Carnival organizers are en- courging all participants to pre- register for each event in order to make the co-ordination smooth and to ensure that everything begins and ends on schedule. Other highlights of the carnival include: old timer hockey tourna- ment; judging of the _ beard- growing contest; skidoo drag races with more than 150 machines; cross-country skiing; lumberjack contests; a hockey game between the Russell War- riors and the world-travelled Ot- tawa old stars; and a snow sculpture contest which will be judged on the lawn of any resident who wishes to enter.
