As of September 1, 1977 a membership fee of 25c per year will be charged. Members will be required to present their library cards when borrow- ing books. In the case of lost or badly damaged books, members will be assessed a replacement fee up to a value of $10.00 per book. We will be open for two additional hours per week: Wednesday evenings, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Playground Repairs The Parks and Playground Committee wish to thank John Hayward and Bill Rombough for their work on the playground this summer. We had _ run_ into difficulty with the swing, the tire tree and the water fountain, however, all are now back in safe working order. Due to the problems encount- ered this Summer, our commit- tee had decided to delay the proposed playground improve- ments until early next spring. Rowsell. Playground News Well, Playground '77 has drawn to a close after a very successful summer, full of fun and games. As you probably have already heard, the children and super- visors held a carnival against muscular dystrophy, and_ in doing so, were able to send a cheque in the amount of $40.01 to the cause. After the carnival activities were over, a film was shown and everyone then went outside for a sing song around the campfire. Everyone had a super time - young as well as not so young - and |'m sure the playground children will agree that the many hours preparation were well spent. The playground also held a ticket sale in order to raise money for a bus trip to Ottawa. Winners were drawn on August 18, and are as follows: First Prize, G.E. AM-FM Radio, Greg Hudson; Second Prize, $20, Giselle Ouellette; Third Prize, $10, Mary Joustra. Our Ottawa trip was held on August 19, the final day of playground activities, and_in- cluded a visit to the Parliament Buildings to see the changing of the Guard Ceremony, to Vincent Massey Park for lunch, and to of the Museum of Man for the afternoon. All in all, we feel that the program was a great success. We all learned more about getting along together, and a- bout our country, Canada. We will be looking forward to seeing an even larger enrolment next summer!
