Dan has studied recreation for the last 3 years at Algonquin College. He also has worked in the field of recreation for the last 5 years. As Recreation Director he hopes to provide the people of the village with the recreation needed. Dan's main role will be the management of the arena and then to assist the people in any recreation programs. Last year a teen dance committee was initiated by Dan and this year he hopes to get a teen club going. A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER For the last 3 months the arena has been undergoing a lot of changes. The lobby has been painted a new lively colour, along with the washrooms and dressing rooms. For all you thirsty people the arena will have a fountain this year. Right now Russell Minor Hockey Assoc. Bulletin Anyone interested in volun- teering to assist the Minor Hockey Teams in any way, please contact the President, Chris Fleming, 445-2030. Please take note that any Minor Hockey player who is playing on a Competitive Team in 1977-78 season, is required to have a Social Insurance num- ber. Forms to obtain these may be picked up at the Post Office. we are in the process of completing the landscaping of the grounds around the arena. Most of you are aware of the water shortage problems at the arena. We are now in the process of eliminating the water shortage so by next winter season we hope the arena will be water problem free. TENNIS Open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. As mentioned in the last recreation newsletter, tennis is under way in the arena. So far the program is quite successful and we hope it will continue. For those who are without equip- ment, it is now available on a rental basis at the arena. So we remind one and all to phone now at 445-2050 for reservations.
