Scout News Scouts from Russell joined their brother scouts from the Rideau area in the Annual Rideau Winter Camporee. The camp was held this year in the Dwyer Hill region east of Almonte. The weather was mild yet not damp and everyone slept well in the deep soft snow. Activities included sled races and a "Hunters Race" on snowshoes, using pellet guns to shoot at selected targets. As a result of an appeal in this column for adult assistance, a new resident of Russell, Doug Peace has become new Scouter here. Doug has been a Scout himself and Venturer Scout and he is interested in helping form a new Venturer Group here if boys in the 15-17 year range are interested. Former Scouts may call Doug at 445-5620. Scouts 14-15 years old may also apply. Welcome Doug, and thanks for volunteering.
