4-H NEWS On Friday, November 28th, the members of 4-H calf clubs in Russell County finished their year with a banquet and awards night. This event was again held at the Embrun Community Centre. The Russell Club trophies were won as follows: : The Lions Club of Russell Trophy was won by Lorraine Eadie for the highest number of points achieved in the Russell Club this year out of a possible total of 800. The Howard Hamilton Memorial Trophy for sportsmanship, goodwill and leadership, was presented to Jerry Smit. Kim Eadie was honoured with the Grahamere Trophy for being the top showman in the Russell Club, and with the Harry Heymans Award for the top Junior member. Lorraine Eadie picked up the Ottawa Citizen Award of $100.00 for accumulating 'the most points in the county. Jerry Smit was awarded 'the W..E. Burton Trophy for having the best leadership, sportsmanship and goddwill qualities in the county. The United Counties Award for being the best showman in the county is becoming the "Eadie" Award. However, this year Lorraine's sister Kim proved to be #1. The King Grain and Seed Co. Trophy and the Rolland O. Perras: Trophy, the:two top' prizes ~ for corn projects were won by Cathy and' Nicky Heymans respectively. -- Norma Park received the United Counties Trophy for second place in the gardening section. The Club executive feels that an excellent year was enjoyed by all, and the support of any prospective members next year, beginning in March woud be appreciated. | It is generally felt that such success would not be had without the great amount of time and effort given by our Club leaders, Lois James and Barry Carscadden.
