RUSSELL FIRE DEPARTMENT A BIT OF HISTORY - "La France Porcupine Steam Boiler" - that was the name, believe it or not, of Russell's first factory-built fire engine. A soda and acid 60 gallon tank on steel wheels, the machine was ordered before the Great Fire of June 9, 1915 but unfortunately did not arrive in time. Built before 1900, the old machine served the community until 1952, when a mobile Seagrave Fire truck was purchased.
