After a short recreation period the business part of the meeting was _ conducted by Robert Hill. It was announced that the Y. P. Library is now open for use. Anyone in the community wishing to borrow books from the | library is asked to get them through a member of the Union who will be held responsible fo rthem. Thanks -|is due to the president for his, work in getting this library started. | The main part of the meeting | took the form of a discussion as to why the ible is not as widely read | today as it was fifty years ago. Some of the reasons given by the group were: | 1. We are living in a much busier and faster-moving age and conse- | quently it is much more difficult to | find time to read the Bible to-day. | 2. Fifty years ago many homes contained few books besides the Bible. 3. To-day there are many in- teresting diversions such as radios, shows, ete. 4. The phraseology of the Bible has not been brought up to date. (The new version, "The Bible De- signed to be Read as Living Liter- ature" was described by one mem- ber as a step in the right direction.) 5. It was felt that the above rea- sons were really superficial, and that the real reason why we do not read our Bibles more to-day is that we do not want to read them; we do not feel the need of the spiritual food which it contains. A brief worship service led by the Christian Fellowship convener brought the meeting to a close. last' 1) Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Graham visit- EDWARDS Spring is here again. Some folks have started to work on the land. The young people of the com- munity gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Campbell on Friday evening to say farewell to William Loney who is moving to Ottawa. Rene Phillips read a very appropri- ate address and Evelyn Paladeau presented him with a travelling kit on behalf of those present. He ex- | : pressed his thanks and all joined in' singing, "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." Dancing and cards were! enjoyed throughout the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Berthiaume and family have moved to our vicini- ty and we welcome them and wish them good luck. We are glad to Kerwin back again. We regret to say that we have lost a good neighbour and friend in the person of Mrs. S. J. Loney who has moved away. What is our loss is another's gain and the good wishes of the community go with her to her new home. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Campbell and Donald spent Sunday evening in!
