This is Samantha Drury. Gerald, which I've actually never called him before, because to his 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, he was Papa. One fond memory of Papa that I have was the annual Christmas coloring contest. Each year, his State Farm office on Wilmette Avenue held a Christmas coloring contest in which kids would come pick up the said picture the year, take it home, color it to the best of their ability, and bring it back to be displayed and then judged by the State Farm office. Papa would post all of the pictures in the office windows facing outwards so those walking by could see. Then the office would take into account all the different pictures, whether they stayed in the lines, their creativity, etc, and pick a winner. The winner would get their picture displayed as well as a State Farm swag bag, which was very exciting at the time. The competition that he instilled amongst the local children was so much fun and something that I would look forward to every year.
