PHILLIP ANDREW COCKS Phillip Andrew Cocks of 937 Broad St. East, Dunnville, died in the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital Friday, May 20th, in his 77th year. He had been in failing health for the past six months and had been in hospital for the past 10 days. Born in Devonshire, England, Dec. 8, 1889, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jonathen Cocks. He came to Canada from England in 1910 coming to the Grimsby area and served in the First World War from 1915-1917. He returned and settled at St. Anne's district where he farmed until coming to Dunnville in 1952. He served at the Dunnville Flight Training School during World War Il as a sergeant. His wife Sarah Stanbury predeceased him in 195l. He had since taken a very active interest in the work of Branch 142 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Dunnville. He is survived by two sons, Leonard of Fenwick and Harold of St. Ann's, and one daughter, Mrs. William Clipper (Grace) of Dunnville. One son, Cecil, predeceased him in 1952. There are also 13 grandchildren. The late Mr. Cocks rested at the Bullock Funeral Home, Dunnville, where members of the Canadian Legion held a memorial service at 8 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment was in St. Ann's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations were made to the Ontario Heart Foundation and to the Canadian Cancer Society.
