My Dear Mother, I must apologize for not writing you before now, but really by time of my arrival in Canada I have been so busy travelling and exploring the Country that I could not will ? time. Indeed it would be of no use until such time as I would be settled. After a great deal of research I have bought a Farm which is Lot [Section] 1of the Second Concession of this Township. It contains 113 acres of which there are about 70 clear and under crop, it appears to be full of the first quality and has cost me up to date £800 Currency. You will of course imagine I am now settled for life but this is very problematical. I am now obliged to work myself which I think nothing of in comparison of the annoyance which I derive and the high wages paid to servants. I write this mainly that you may know where I am and have to request you will let me Uncle know as soon as you receive this as I shall write him shortly as I am unable to write at present from an injury in my arm. As I am anxious to learn how you are getting on delay not a day in writing me, direct your letter as under paying the postage to New York by which means I will secure your letter near two months sooner than otherwise. With love to Mary and family also Jess and my Aunt Mrs. Sutherland. I always am, My Dear Mother, yours affectionately A. McPherson
