The T-J Northwestern Ontario Report Terrace Bay Rev. Greengrass Honored On 25th Anniversary June 23, 1972 Ceremonies marking the 25th anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of Rev, A, E. Greengrass, PP, of St. Martin's of Tours Church, Terrace Bay, were held recently. A dinner for members of the Greengrass family, members of the clergy from various Thunder Bay and di s t r i c t parishes, including Rev. P. McKague and Mrs. McKague, of the Terrace Bay Community Church, was held at Terrace Bay Motor Hotel. Ray Kenney, of Rossport, a former principal of St. Martin's Separate School, acted as Master of Ceremonies and spoke of Father Greengrass' early years in his hometown of Schreiber. The highlight of the day's ac- tivities was a mass. Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus color guard members from Schreiber, Terrace Bay and Marathon led the procession of clergy into the church. Principal celebrant was Father Greengrass. Assisting him were Most Rev. N. J. Gallagher DD, Bishop of Thunder Bay, Reverends J. M. Cano, F. J. Meyer, L. E. Brennan, J. S. Reguly and S. Hyrchenuk, SJ. The sermon was preached by Bishop Gallagher, who emphasized the necessity of the faith ful to encourage and support the work of their priests by their prayers and their active support in all diocesan and parish efforts. Singing during the mass was led by Sister Paulette Hadfield and the teenage singers of St. Martin's Parish. Following the mass, presentations to Father Greengrass were made by Grand Knight R, Berube of St. James Council, K of C and George Tremblay, faithful navigator of Holy Saviour Fourth Degree K of C, who also read an address on behalf of the assembly. Other presentations were made on behalf of St. Martin's parish by R. Four-nier, and on behalf of old friends from Schreiber, by T. Borutski. Mrs. G. Ramsay and Mrs. Jean Henderson, of Terrace and Marathon, made presentations on behalf of their respective C.W.L. Councils. In a brief address, Father Greengrass expressed his sincere appreciation to all who had come and helped to mark this important occasion, especially the large group of clergy who travelled long distances to be present. He said he was most grateful that his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Greengrass, was able to be present for this happy event. He prayed that he might have continued good health and divine guidance in the performance of his duties to God and the church. A come and go social was held in the church hall after the mass, catered by the ladies of the Terrace Bay parish. There, Father Greengrass visited with those who had come to congratulated him from Marathon, Schreiber, Nipigon, Red Rock, and Thunder Bay, as well as Terrace Bay. It also gave the local people a chance to greet Dean E. A. Gallagher, a former priest in charge of St. Martin's of Tours. t General organizer for the event was R.
