Wl members honored for service BY EDITH CAMERON Special To The Star IRON BRIDGE — At a special meeting of the Iron Bridge Women's Institute, three long-term members were presented with life member's pins and certificates. Hattie Gardiner hasn't been very well this winter, but that hasn't stopped her being as vitally interested as ever in her branch and its motto — For Home and Country. Making the presentation to Mrs. Gardiner, Katie Draper and Anna Reid was branch secretary Mary Cosgrove. It was a complete surprise to all three. Mrs. Gardiner was a charter member of the Dayton branch, organized in 1921, before moving to Iron Bridge and had been made a life member a few years before moving there. Hattie Gardiner Anna All of these women had seen many changes in WI work over the years, but always the aim had been to better conditions in the community and the homes, to promote better citizenship, and to help improve health and education. Reid Katie Draper Through the years many courses were taken through the extension branch of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food to improve their skills as homemakers 'and to assist others in doing the same. Following a social hour, lunch was served by the branch members at this well-attended gathering.
