Farm Safety Conference Focuses on Protection IRON BRIDGE — "Renewal of self and organizations is the key to better communities" said Sister Thomas Moore, department of social science, Manitowoc, Wise, at the recent farm safety Conference held Feb. 8-10 at the Skyline Hotel, Toronto. She cautioned against the feeling of inadequacy often projected by farm people because of attitudes toward their education. She went on to say when one communicates an idea well, your English is "perfect". Other items on the conference agenda included three country and district safety programs. Active workshop sessions focused on protection of the senses, accident survey reports, as well as films, drama and visual aids. Special banquet speaker was the Hon. William Stewart, minister of agriculture and food for Ontario. Mr. Stewart challenged the participants to be active in eliminating accidents. He encouraged farm safety committees to use the local TV. radio and newspapers. Delegates expressed an urgency to sell our product "Safety" in order to survive. Mrs. Gladys Helin, Timmins was elected as zone director of the provincial farm safety council for 1971-72. Local delegates attending were Mrs. Neil Draper and Mrs. Max Tulloch.
