History of S.S.#3 Foley
On March 21, 1385 it was moved by James S. Miller that a school frame house 30 feet by 20 feet be erected, The school was erected in I885 on the south west corner of lot 120, concession B. John Ellis was the manager for the building of the school. The school grounds were cleaned by T. Wlllet. The cost of the school was $203.
Additions and Repairs: The school grounds were fenced in I895. In I890 desks were placed in the school. A foundation was put under the school in 1897. The school was painted on the Inside in l899, and on the outside in 1909. In 1900 a woodshed was built. In 1908 a platform was built. In 1916 a new floor was laid. The school was shingled in I92I and lightning rods were installed in 1930,
From 1922 the children were transported to the school during the winter months by sleigh.
The original chairman of the school was Mr. John Ellis. The original secretary of the school was Mr. William Mathewson. The original teacher of the school was Mr. William Mathewson.
