FALDING Information gathered from Richard & Patricia Poole The following information concerns the little area by Rankin Lake and it's inhabitants. The picture attached, (Poole collection), is of the Oldreeve saw mill, taken in the summer of 1947. The saw mill is on property now belonging to the Poole's. Nester and Matilda Johnson, Finnish folks, built the log home still inhabited by the Poole family. Nester started building the cabin in 1947 at the age of 65 years and not one power tool was used! Nester and Matilda were in the cabin Christmas of 1948. Nester Johnson also built a log cabin for Franz Johnston (Group of Seven) not far from the by-pass to Parry Sound. The point in the picture is called "Campbells Point". In the foreground of the picture there is a log dock. This was part of the Ice house that was still standing many years after it was no longer used by the CNR. In the same area, (not shown in the picture but off to the right), was a seasonal resort owned and operated by a Mr. Orupold, (spelling?). The Resort consisted of small little cabins which were rented out each year. The Anglican Church was donated land, which can't be see from the picture, but it is off to the left. There was never a church built there but maybe it was given in thought a village in the future.
