The Sault Star Algoma WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1999, A12 Blind River library relocation put on holding pending assessment By NORLYN PURYCH Special to The Star BLIND RIVER — Relocation of the Blind River Public Library from Michigan Avenue to Woodward Avenue is in pause mode while engineers assess what and how much reinforcement of the floor in the Woodward Avenue building is required to support the heavy load that book stacks would create. It has been determined that the existing floor is inadequate. Consulting engineers have been asked to provide a plan that would accommodate arranging the books in the building without re-building the entire floor. It is hoped that reinforcement in selected areas will be sufficient. A solution to that problem must be incorporated into a final plan that includes "opening up" the floor plan by removing at least some of the existing office walls. Admitting to some frustration overthe delay — he had hoped to get the library relocated by year end. Mayor Bob Gallagher now predicts it isn't likely to happen before next spring.
