THE MORNING AFTER fire consumed the Hotel Sinton the rubble continued to smoulder and keep tired firemen on the job while hoses from four fire departments lay out on the street neatly awaiting pickup. Thessalon Fire Chief Mike Raymond estimates 50-60 people fought the fire which raged through the early morning hours of Thursday. All the building's tenants were rescued unharmed.

- A newspaper clipping which shows the remains of the Sinton Hotel after it caught fire on April 4th, 1985. The hotel was located on the corner of Huron and Main on the north west corner and had been a long time landmark. It was built in 1907 by Thomas Moore and had been through several incarnations when fire claimed it.
- Notes
- There were four fire departments involved in trying to extinguish the blaze and at least 50 to 60 people assisted. There were seven people left homeless after the blaze and six tenants escaped without injury.
