- Description
- This is a black and white photo of two women in the Bell Telephone Exchange on Main Street Thessalon. The light-haired woman standing in the centre of the photo is Bell manager Mrs. Mary Bell Currie. The younger dark-haired female sitting in front of a switchboard is reportedly Miss G. Gagne.
The work space is a narrow one, with shelves of wire cables in the right background. Miss Gagne wears a headset and speaks into a horn-like speaker.
- Notes
- Typewritten notes affixed to this photo read:"Miss G. Gagne is the "Hello Girl" in this vintage '29 picture taken at the Bell Telephone Co. Exchange on Main Street. Branch Manager, Mrs. Mary Bell Currie was then serving the telephone needs of 149 subscribers in and around Thessalon."
