Description
This is a black and white photo of the Burtis lumber mill on the waterfront. The photo shows tall wooden piers and a three story wooden structure in the centre of the photo.

This structure has a ramp rising from the water up into the building through a large entrance. Another building with a tall black chimney stands to the right. Below, the water is full of logs.
Notes
The Burtis Mill was built in 1903 on the west shore of Thessalon. Mr. E. B. Floss was the president and Manager. The Burtis mill did a lot of contract logging and sawing.

Fire took the mill in the summer of 1912. The site of the original mill was where Carolyn Beach Motel and Restaurant now stands.
