- Description
- In this black and white photo a young man stands at "attention" dressed in what appears to be an army uniform.
He is standing in front of Wedgewood's store. This store is a two story building with a false flat front that displays signage advertising various cigarette brands.
- Notes
- The site where the photo is taken was farmland originally owned by William Fowler. It was later operated as a butcher shop and a coffee shop that became the local "hang out" for the younger people in the area.
Mr. Wedgewood purchased it from James Anderson in 1954, who was operating as "Anderson's Grocery". The store underwent additions and was partially rented to the Royal Bank at one point. It became MacDonalds in 1978 when it was purchased by Sheldon MacDonald.
This photo can be found in the Tweedsmuir History created by the Iron Bridge Women's Institute.
