Rev. H. R. Monkman and the present minister Rev. R. S. Hiltz. The formation of the United Church Women took place January 1st 1962, incorporating the Women's Missionary Society and the Woman's Association. Other organizations are the Explorers, Messengers and Canadian Girls in Training. The new manse, overlooking the Sturgeon River was built in 1962 on the site of the old Public School. On May 14th, 1967 there was a celebration of the Founding of the Methodist church in this area, to which former members were invited. The days of Rev. Silas Huntington, after whom the College in Sudbury was named, were recalled by speakers and by the reading of the history of Sturgeon Falls, its first seventy years, composed by the Public School Principal, Frank Casey a long time resident. His sketches of former times, and buildings are much appreciated by the old timers. Rev. Ross Crosby preached. Communion Chairs were dedicated in memory of Morgan Buffet, Lillian Morrison, Mrs Gertrude Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. David Carswell. In 1967 the church Hall was renovated, a new ceiling and wall panelling were part of the improvements. The wooden posts were replaced by steel ones. At this time a large group of young people purchased a filmstrip projector and sold copies of histories of Sturgeon Falls by Frank Casey. In a year or so most of the young people had gone to college and to work, and the Sunday School fell to a low ebb. In the seventies the Sunday School began to improve and in 1973 the children appeared on "Happiness Inn" on the Sudbury T.V. Station.
