- Description
- The village of Field was connected to the Lands & Forest fire fighting towers by telephone. This tower was used to dry hoses after fighting a fire. They were pulled up by rope and let dangle to dry.
- Notes
- Alfred Walter Jackson, a WWI veteran, moved to Field in 1934 as Chief Ranger of the Department of Lands and Forest operations where he worked until 1965. In summer, he was responsible for fire towers at Island Lake, Silver Creek, Tilden Lake and a crew of
four at Rangers Point Station at Devil Lake (Manitou Lake). (pp. 68 Field,Ontario 1850-2009) - Éditeur
