- J.A. Clark of Sturgeon Falls was captain on all of the boats in this photograph. The Northern Belle 1905-1926 (left) was 32 metres long and built by John Gridley in Sturgeon Falls. The Highland Belle (centre) 1906-1909 also known as the Vanwoodland was 23 metres long, and built in Orillia. In 1906 John Ashley Clark bought the Van Woodland and gave her a total refit and renamed her the Highland Belle. The Elgin L. Lewis (far right) 1904-1917 was 22 metres long and powered by a 6 h.p. steam engine. The boat was once owned by H.E. McKee and Charles Britton of Sturgeon Falls.
