Dear Donna,
Have been reading with interest your efforts to revive Agnes MacPhail's [sic] memory. As a young person tales of Agnes were of interest to me, and I recall her visits to my grandfather's farm at Proton Station. (Robert G. Acheson) Grandpa had 6 daughters, five being school teachers, all taught well in the art of eating graciously. Agnes loved Grandma Acheson's gravy and much to the surprise of these five daughters would take a piece of home made bread and slosh it around on her plate to gather all the stray drops of gravy.
My husband, Jack, loved to tell Priceville jokes. At a Priceville picnic Agnes was asked to "speak". There was no ready elevated place from which she could address the crowd so she mounted a near-by [sic] manure spreader and announced that it was her first time to speak from a Conservative platform.
I wish you well in your project. Regret my writing is so poor, but arthritis in my right hand does affect it.
Best wishes,
Marjorie McKechnie
