"Dr. Umlaut's earthly kingdom" is by Phyllis Gottlieb.
She wrote mostly poetry and a couple of radio plays for CBC Radio. I took one - "Garden Varieties" and staged it for the Lambton Youth Theatre in 1972-73-ish when I returned home to Sarnia from WLU for a summer job. We invited Ms. Gottlieb to the "World Stage Premiere" - and she showed up and even came to the cast party.
