THE FOUNDING OF THE WOMEN'S AUXILIARY When Waterloo Lutheran Seminary was opened in 1911, Mrs. Fred Stahlschmidt of Preston thought it would be a good idea for a group of women from the various Lutheran Churches in the area, to assist the new institution in whatever way possible. She mentioned this to her good friends, Dr. and Mrs. Milton Bieber, who were at that time organizing First English Lutheran Church, now St. Mark, Kitchener, on one of their frequent visits to her home. Dr. Bieber was most enthusiastic about the idea and immediately went to work. He asked Dr. S.W. Emil Bockleman, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Waterloo, to appoint someone. She was Mrs. Jacob Conrad. Dr. Emil Hoffman of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Kitchener, appointed Mrs. Harry Hagen, and Mrs. Bieber represented First English. On February 27, 1913, a Women's Auxiliary to Waterloo Lutheran Seminary was founded. The first executive committee consisted of: President - Mrs. Fred Stahlschmidt German Secretary - Mrs. Jacob Conrad English Secretary - Mrs. Milton Bieber Treasurer - Mrs. Harry Hagen
