- President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn came to Kitchener in July 1993 as part of Habitat for Humanity's Jimmy Carter Work Project. They helped build 11 homes on Daniel Street in Kitchener. The Carters stayed in Laurier's Bricker Residence.
