Dear Sir:-
I wish to thank you for your letter of May 23rd., and, in compliance with your request, to return the file of correspondence you so kindly forwarded to Mr. King some little time ago.
I need hardly assure you that there was no implication in my letter of acknowledgment that you were trespassing in forwarding the material for Mr. King's perusal. It just so happened that your letter came at a time when Mr, King's Parliamentary duties were most exacting, and it was only held over in the hope that opportunity might be afforded later of reading it.
As Mr. King was away from Ottawa practically throughout the Parliamentary recess, and the demands of the Session, during these past weeks, appear to be even more pressing, I do not see how it will be possible for Mr. King to study the material before prorogation. For that reason I am compelled to comply with your request for the return of the file to you.
Yours faithfully,
