Rev. Ludwig Herman Gerndt (1921-1905) studied at universities in Germany before serving as a missionary in India for ten years, until he was forced to flee due to Sepoy Rebellion. He was then sent to Canada, where he served several parishes in Ontario. Later, he served parishes in New York and New Jersey. He was the first Lutheran pastor to serve in the Ottawa Valley. - Date of Original
