- Leon Irschick was born in Riga, Latvia in 1889. In 1912 he immigrated to Canada, and entered the Evangelical Lutheran Seminary of Canada in 1915. After graduation in 1919 he entered the Biblical Seminary in New York to prepare for missionary work. From 1922 to 1960 he served as a missionary in India where he met and married Viola Steigerwalt, a nurse at the Rajahmundry Mission Hospital.
Wilfrid Laurier University is located in Waterloo, Ontario. It began in 1911 as the Evangelical Lutheran Seminary of Canada. In 1924 Waterloo College was established, providing courses in post-secondary education. In 1960 Waterloo College became Waterloo Lutheran University, and in 1973 changed its name to Wilfrid Laurier University. Laurier Brantford opened in 1999. - Inscriptions
