THE WOMEN'S AUXILIARY OF WATERLOO LUTHERAN SEMINARY The annual meeting of the Women's Auxiliary of Waterloo Lutheran Seminary was held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo, Ontario on Wednesday Sept. 24th, commencing at 10:00 A.M. The meeting was called to order by president, Mrs. Clarence Heer, who welcomed all assembled and extended appreciation for the use of the facilities at St. John's Lutheran Church. Opening devotions were conducted by Tom Doherty, Seminarian and vicar at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Tom, using his guitar as accompaniment and assisted periodically by Ruth Erdman of St. John's Lutheran Church on the recorder, very ably lead the group in d and song. his message centered on LOVE and SERVICE. Devotions concluded with the group joining in on the singing of "Let Me Be Your Servant". Mrs. Heer expressed appreciation to Tom and Ruth for the very meaningful opening devotions. Rev. A. L. Conrad, the host pastor, extended greetings to the meeting. He reminded us that it is when the facilities of a church are used that it becomes beautiful. Dr. Delton Glebe, Dean of Waterloo Lutheran Seminary, brought greetings on behalf of the Seminary - referring to the members present as "the flowers of the Eastern Canada Synod." REPORTS The president, Mrs. Clarence Heer, in her report Indicated that during the year 5 executive meetings were held to carry out the work of the auxiliary. One new member was added to the executive in the person of Mrs. Esther Ruppenthal, Assistant Promotion Chairman, This year we received the following donations: 28 quilts $25.00 cash for bedding On behalf of the executive, she thanked all who have contributed to this phase of our work, the quilts given to the students have been deeply appreciated and this has been demonstrated by the numerous letters of thanks received from the students. The present academic year at the Seminary opened with a chapel service followed by refreshments, provided and served by the Auxiliary executive, to the Seminarians and their friends. Lunch was also served for "Youth Day" sponsored by the Seminary students. Gift certificates of $50.00 were presented to each of ten graduates for 1980, and $10.00 certificates to two part time students. Special Pastoral Education, "Clinical Training" is a major item in our budget and as the costs of this course continue to rise students become even more grateful for the financial assistance provided by the Auxiliary.
