THE CANADA LUTHERAN. 3 THE ECKHART MEMORIAL ORGAN. The Eckhart memorial organ, of which a cut is shown in this issue, was installed in Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. N. Willison, pastor, just one year ago. It was formally consecrated on Sunday evening, November 15, 1914. It was built by Lye Bros. of Toronto, and presented to the church by Mr. and Mrs. A. J. H. Eckhart, of Toronto, in memory of their Lutheran ancestors who helped to found this parish in 1794. The organ is a beautiful instrument in a mahogany case, fifteen feet wide with forty-five front pipes decorated in gold. The action is pneumatic with the keyboard separate from the organ. The cost of the organ was $1,765. CONVENTION ECHOES. The great Laymen's Convention, held October, 1915, in the aggressive city of Buffalo, has most wonderfully stirred the Protestant churches in and about that city. Buffalo has 26 Lutheran churches, 14 of which were represented in the great movement. Since the convention, our Lutherans got together and organized. Surely this is a great awakening and we all need it. Let us all wake up and get ready for December 10th, 1915, and go to Berlin, NEW MOVEMENT. A new movement, and one which Mr. W. C. Pearce, of Chicago, thinks is the greatest modern accessory to our efforts as S. S. workers, is the coining of the Institute of Religious Education. We have not many in Ontario as yet, but one of which we are proud has been established in Toronto. Some 400 and more have registered therein, devoting Tuesday evening of each week for six months to a two-hour specific studies by department groups. Hamilton is also attempting work on this line, and other cities will very shortly follow. We are looking for a rapid growth along this line. CANADA LUTHERAN, Vol. II, No. 10.
