THE ORDER OF SERVICE (The Congregation shall stand except for the reading of the Epistle, the announcements, the Sermon, and the gathering of the Offering) THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 1. 0 worship the King, all glorious above, 0 gratefully sing his wonderful love; Our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendour, and girded with praise. 2. 0 tell of his might, 0 sing of his grace, Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space; His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form, And dark is his path on the wings of the storm. 3. The earth with its store of wonders untold, Almighty, thy power had founded of old; Hath stablished it fast by a changeless decree, And round it hath cast, like a mantle, the sea. 4. Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light; It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, And sweetly distils in the dew and the rain. 5. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail; Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end, Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend. 6. 0 measureless Might, ineffable Love, While angles delight to hymn thee above, The humbler creation, though feeble their lays, With true adoration shall sing to thy praise. (A period of silence will follow the Processional Hymn so that each person present may say his own prayer of preparation and invocation). THE INVOCATION In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Response: Amen. THE INTROIT Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord: praise ye the Lord. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Response: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. THE KYRIE In peace let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord have mercy. For the peace that is from God, and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord have mercy. For the peace of the whole world, for the well-being of the people of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord have mercy. For this university, and for them that in faithfulness offer here the worship of their service and labour, let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord have mercy.
