A Brighton high school pupil borrowed two books from Cobourg Public Library which were due November 6, 1967, reported Mr. Barnett at the January 17 Library Board meeting.
After repeated requests to have the books, “Greek Experience” and “European Civilization” returned, Cobourg Library was still unsuccessful. A notice to the Brighton High School Principal requested him to approach the pupil.
The books were returned January 17, 1968, after much time was wasted by the Library staff. It was grossly unfair to Cobourg students who wished to use these texts.
Mr. Barnett suggested in future any student not of the Cobourg high schools should only procure books through interlibrary practices either through a local or high school library, which would be responsible for their return.
Board members agreed this would be a wise move; was made policy on motion of Mrs. L. A. Verney and Mrs. D. M. Wright.
