From Comments received:
1. This is Division street, looking south east towards James Street - the buildings in the foreground have been bricked since this photo was taken - the old "McCarty house" is in the distance.
2. I believe this photo to be the Funeral of firemen James L Forrest, George R. Stephenson and Charles W. A. Patterson who died in the Windsor Hotel Fire - April 25, 1878. If you look closer there is another Hurst behind the men in white hats. The Cobourg firemen dress hats were white at that time.
