Eldorado Signs Pact With Town, Gives $405,000.
It was a "pleasant bit of business" for Blind River Mayor Bob Gallagher as he, along with Eldorado Vice President Ron Dakers, officially signed the agreement that will see Eldorado Nuclear Ltd. build a $120 million uranium trioxide refinery in Blind River.
Dakers stated in signing the agreement that it was the "culmination of a lot of effort from the people of Blind River and we hope to get on with building the refinery."
The mayor thanked Dakers and said he expects the council and Eldorado to have a "good relationship" over the next few years.
The mayor was also presented with a $40,000 cheque for the building permit from the town that will allow Eldorado to go ahead with the refinery.
Dakers also presented Gallagher with a $405,000 cheque for the new Blind River recreation centre.
Dakers said it was the Crown corporation's policy to assist municipalities where they operate in building recreational facilities.
Gallagher thanked the Eldorado vice president for the contribution, which is now in a letter of intent form, saying it came "at a really good time" in council's efforts to build the complex.
