- A portrait of Sir Callingwood Schreiber. He was born at Bradwell Lodge near Colchester England. Collingwood Schreiber trained as a civil engineer. He came to Canada and became a field surveyor and administrator in the era of railway expansion. In 1873 he became the chief engineer of government railways. He succeeded Sir Sanford Fleming in 1880 as CPR chief engineer, and spent considerable time in Northwestern Ontario.
