As a last resort, lie flat in a ditch, excavation or culvert. *Reduce the hazards--Trim dead trees and branches from around your home to reduce the danger of them blocking an exit or causing damage or injury. Check the drainage around your home to reduce the effect of prolonged, torren- tial rains from flooding the basement. 'Prepare your vehicle --always have a fairly full tank of gasoline in your car. Gas sta- tions may not be able to oper- ate for several days during or after a severe storm. You may have to evacuate on short notice.
