The 1992 Pontiac Bonneville had been stolen late Saturday night, June 28, from the Spadoni Brothers car lot in Schreiber. Several of the guard rails were uprooted as a result of the impact. After the accident, the car was driven back to the car lot and left there by the thieves. "We were notified at 3 pm Sunday afternoon by a Spadoni's employee that the car had been damaged," says Schreiber OPP Sgt. Andy Tem- plar. The OPP have questioned three men in relation to the incident. Templar says the investigation is still ongoing, but says he expects charges will be laid. He also says no one was injured in the accident. Two drug raids net plants, paraphernalia by Darren MacDonald The News 'Terrace Bay Police Services have charged two men with possession of a narcotic follow- ing two drug raids carried out the evening of June 25. The raids involved a total of eight officers, including three from Terrace Bay, two mem- bers of the RCMP from Marathon, one member of the Marathon Police Services, one member of the Canadian Pacif- ic Police, and one OPP officer from Thunder Bay, who brought in drug sniffing dogs to assist in the raids. The raids took place at a home on Fort Garry Road and on Southridge Crescent in Ter- race Bay. "The investigation entailed a period of time," says Terrace Bay Police Chief Wes Fenton, adding that some of the infor- mation came from the CAP (Community Against Pushers) line, which is operated by the OPP. "And the information we received tured out to be accu- rate," he says. Fenton says police seized substances resembling marijua- na and plants resembling mari- juana plants from the two homes. The substances have since been shipped to Health and Welfare Canada in Win- nipeg to be examined and posi- tively identified. Also seized were "drug paraphernalia", including hydroponics equipment, com- monly used in growing cannabis. No one was hurt during the raids, and Fenton says they went off smoothly. "We have an extremely good working relationship with the other police forces, and when we require assistance, it's read- ily available," he says. In an unrelated incident later the same evening, Fenton says Terrace Bay Police responded to a report of gunshots being fired near Terrace Heights. Charges are still pending in the case, but Fenton says he expects two men will be continued on page 2 Inside Community briefs--Menon case goes later this month......2 | ae crunch holding up medical/ dental centre..3 Sanders...5 : ee \._-DIANNE O'NEILL TERRA CE BAY INSURANCE LTD.
