"We know who the contrac- tor is who's doing the work east of the mill road, and we're going to contact them and get a price," he says. "But they won't be doing that until the fall, if then." The cheapest thing to do would be to wait until the new highway comes through, but Mikkonen says that's not what he'd like to do, at least from a maintenance point of view. For now, he says they'll be Ridgewood Drive to be paved? Terrace Bay is trying to decide what it should do about Ridgewood Drive. The Ministry of Transporta- tion has designated it as a new road, and therefore won't be paving its part of it until the new highway comes through sometime in 1993-94. Township engineer Ray Mikkonen says hiring a con- tractor to come in just to pave it would be extremely expen- sive, so the township is looking into having the contractor ANNUAL MEETING THE McCAUSLAND HOSPITAL 1992-93 Annual Meeting of The McCausland Hospital Corporation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 1992 at the Schreiber Public School at 2000 hours. The is the third year in a row the Terrace Bay Ski Club has hosted the derby. Although it began as a way for the club to raise money to complete their sports facility, Black says they plan to keep running it even after the chalet and ski-hill is built. Prizes this year total more than $3,000, and they include an electric downrigger, a vhf radio, a portable fish finder, a propane barbecue, and an elec- tric trolling motor with sonar. More than 400 people par- ticipated in last year's derby, including around 100 children. "Pretty much every child who catches a fish will get a prize," says Black, adding that last year, all 62 young people who caught a fish received a prize. Prizes are being given out for all categories of fish--inland and Lake Superi- or. However, in cooperation with the MNR, Black says they have decided not to give out mystery weight prizes this year. "It encourages people to overfish," she says. Also new for this year, rain- bow trout has been added to the list of fish eligible for prizes. "They (the MNR) were con- cerned about rainbow trout stocks last year, so we removed them from the derby," says Black, adding that the stocks had recovered enough this year to put them back on the prize list.
