Page 2, News, Tuesday, April 21, 1992 Community briefs New street sweeper for Terrace Bay Terrace Bay is purchasing a used street sweeper from a town in Manitoba at a cost of $45,000 plus taxes. The purchase was approved at the April 13 council meet- ing. Reeve Jim Ziegler said budgets restrictions prevent the township from buying a new sweeper. "With the one per cent increase we're getting from the provincial government, we just can't afford to buy a new one," Ziegler said. The FMC street sweeper is being purchased from the town of Selkirk, Manitoba, and is expected to arrive in about three weeks. It will replace the old sweeper, which is no longer operational. Emergency sled and trailer The Loyal Order of the Moose is planning to donate an sled and skiddoo trailer to be used in Schreiber and Ter- race Bay in emergencies. With more people travel- ling on the remote trails, police and ambulance services must be able to reach them in cases of emergency. The sled and skiddoo trailer should in use this coming fall, Templar said. Parks gear up for visitors Last year the Ministry of Natural Resources spent $10 million on provincial parks, in addition to work done to make parks more accessible to per- sons with physical disabilities.
