The consulting firm of Marshall Macklin Monoghan has been assigned this phase of the project.. The purpose of the work is to restore the riding quality of the pavement surface and improve the safety and operation of the highway. The proposed work will include: removal of existing asphalt pavement; regrading to correct cross-fall deficiencies, eliminate frost heaves and rehabilitate shoulders; resurfacing of the entire section of highway; re-alignment of a 2.1 km section of Highway 17 immediately to the west of the CPR overhead bridge; the extension of one westbound truck climbing lane; exten- sion of four-laning easterly in the urban area of Schreiber; provision of highway illumination along the proposed four-lane extension in Schreiber; reconstruction of commercial entrances to ministry standards through the urban areas of Schreiber and Terrace Bay; intersection improvements at Aguasabon Road, Lakeview Drive, Kenogami Avenue, Ridgewood Drive, Terrace Heights Drive and Mill Road in Terrace Bay.
