Mary Long, general manager of Superior North Business Centre Inc., said this is first time Small Business Week activities have taken place in the Terrace Bay - Schreiber area. The GST & Tax Tips seminar, presented by John Barber of Dunwoody and Company, will be held at the Schreiber Recreation Centre tonight at 7 p.m. On Wed. Oct. 24, again at the Recreation Centre in Schreiber from 7 -10 p.m., various agen- cies will provide information on funding, employment, training, small business loans, banking, taxes and other business informa- tion. "If individuals want to set up a business or get some help for an existing business, they can go to various booths and find out exact- ly what it is they have to do, pick up an application form and get all kinds of information," said Long. The Small Business Week Program shifts to Pays Plat Community Hall on Thur. , Oct 25, 7-10 p.m., for a seminar about business opportunities on the reserve. The seminar, presented by Byron Nawagesic, of Centre of the Sky Marketing, will deal with how to start a business on the reserve, discovering who your customers will be and how to attract them. The Superior North Business ff Development Centre Inc. is part of the Community Futures Organization. Long said the Centre's purpose is to help develop and encourage small business in an area that includes Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Rossport, Pays Plat and Jackfish. "The number of jobs created through centres like this one has been really phenomenal," she said.
