Special Appearance by Audrey Hepburn. This movie was put onto video in the form of letterboxing. That means there is a bar of black on the top and the bottom of your T.V. screen. Steven Speilberg writes a little message at the beginning, that states he wanted to do this in order to preserve' the magnitude and intensity of the film. Now, someone like me, who never saw the movie in a theater, would not know the difference, but I assume that those who did would feel something was miss- ing. It is very distracting for the first 15 minutes, but once the story starts to develop, you forget all about it. Dreyfus is Pete; a lovable, adven- turer who flies a water bomber plane. His best friend and boss is Al (Goodman) and his girlfriend is Derinda (Hunter). Pete lives on the razors edge and takes too many chances. Ina heart-stopping scene of friend- ship, loyalty and bravery, Pete is killed saving Al. He now meets Hap (Hepburn) who is his spirit helper is the afterworld. She explains his mission in death. He is to give encouragement and inseparation to a young flyer named Ted (Johnson), who will hear Pete talking to him in his mind and will think it is his own thoughts. Ted joins a training school where Al is the supervisor. Derinda works there too and Ted falls in love with her. Pete is jeal- ous so he talks to Derinda about his love for her. She thinks these are her own thoughts and refuses to give up her grieving for Pete. Hap tells Pete that he is wasting his spirit and keeping Derinda trapped sadness. He must say good-bye or neither of the them will be free. This movie is a dec- laration to lost love and moving forward. It shows how hard it is to get on with your life, but how equally hard it is not to. It is also a testimonial to the people who have the courage to fullfill their dreams no matter the obstacles. As someone once said; "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade". This movie exempli- fys the love and strength needed to make yourself the best life pos- sible. I totally enjoyed ALWAYS and I give it a 10. North could be a dump The northern part of Ontario is a region whose economic devel- opment is the slowest, and whose unemployment rate remains the highest, in the entire province. The regional economy, based as it is on thé exploitation of raw materials, is forever at the mercy of world market fluctuations. While the solution to this eco- nomic debility lies in the creation of a more diversified economy, certain measures, adopted in the name of such economic diversifi- cation, along with their attendant social and economic repercus- sions need to be more critically examined. site for the south's garbage Some northern municipalities have embarked upon the storage of waste material from the south's major urban centres. ! This is an industry that is rela tively uncomplicated, yet which brings in a large income. Toronto is suffocating under the burden of its waste, and, to get rid of it, it is prepared to pay sums that could seem phenome- nal to some.small northern town. But what will be the long term ecological, economic, and social repercussions of such an indus- try? This is what will be examined on Visiontario on Nov.21 on La Chaine.
